3. After you've revised (usually in multiple rounds), find a critique partner or beta reader to provide a fresh take on the story. Often, writers are too close to their work to clearly identify what still need revision. This is an important step. You do not want a prospective agent or editor to be your first reader; learn how the story can be improved before you submit it.
