Desk Stretches
My theme for the April A to Z Challenge is Productivity for Creative People. Treadmill DeskSitting for long periods of time is unhealthy. I have desk-envy over author April Henry's solution: a treadmill desk. This allows her to walk while she writes. (See desk photo below.) Desk StretchesEven without a treadmill desk, you can still battle the strain of sitting. Here are some desk stretches. If you have other ways to multitask while working out or to fit exercise into your schedule, please share.

I love the idea of a treadmill at my desk. I often stand up and as a weight-bearing way to improve balance, I sometimes take turns standing on one leg for several minutes at a time. I also try to remember to take a quick break every so often, by getting up and running up and down the stairs a couple of times. 4/6/2016 08:32:40 am
I've seen the treadmill desk before, it's such a great idea. It's easy sometimes for us to lose track of how much time we've been sitting at the desk - this is a great reminder to get some stretching done! I really love the infographic, lots of good suggestions! I quite like to break my writing routine with an hour or so walking my dogs, it's great to get the fresh air as well. I've thought about that kind of desk for a while but I have a feeling walking and typing at the same time is far more challenging than it seems! 4/6/2016 04:29:22 pm
What a great reminder to get some exercise as we work, especially since writing is so sedentary typically. I do things before writing, like yoga or walking the dog. I also take breaks, wherein I stretch and take on certain asanas to restore my energy during the day. 4/7/2016 06:02:21 am
To be honest, I do a lot of reaching . . . into the fridge for my chilled peanut butter minis and more ice for my diet coke. Not terribly healthy, so I lace up my walking shoes and head out for a bit of fresh air each day. Walking also helps me drum up new ideas or solutions to tricky scenes in my latest WIP.
