I'll be celebrating at the family reunion when this post goes live, so my comments and visits to other blogs will be delayed this week.
My extended family used to get together once a year to celebrate Thanksgiving. But as holiday schedules became more complicated, we came up with a new tradition: Thanksgiving in July. We rotate locations each summer among five states, and the host provides Thanksgiving turkey and all the trimmings. When the meal is over and the kitchen is cleaned, we put on Christmas carols and the kids open presents. Since we only see each other once a year, we have to make the most of the occasion!
What's your favorite family or holiday tradition?

What a great idea!!!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!! 7/22/2016 06:56:22 pm
That sounds like a great idea! It would put me in the Christmas spirit way early, that's for sure.
Thanksgiving and Christmas in July! What a great idea! I'm sure it's much easier to get together on summer break than the measly days they give as vacation in Nov and Dec. I hope you have a wonderful time! Sorry, I tried putting the direct link to this page on my blog roll, but it refuses to move it from the bottom of the list (e.g. refuses to accept it as a live feed). Then I took the addy for your RSS feed and put that in, but have the same problem. I will mention it to the other celebrate members next week. Dang stupid tech/feed stuff. :( 7/24/2016 03:16:18 pm
Yvonne, celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas in July sounds like a nice idea for family gatherings. It simplifies things when the weather isn't boning chilling cold and then it allows you to still have your own family traditions when these holidays roll around. Thanks for stopping by for a visit. Have a funtastic week! 7/25/2016 02:32:02 pm
That's a great idea. Our family stopped trying to travel by plane at Thanksgiving once we figured out how much the airlines jack up the prices. We still travel at Christmas though. Luckily most of our family is clustered in two towns in the same state. 7/25/2016 11:59:46 pm
What a creative way to celebrate together. It's gotten harder to get our extended family together too. So far, we've still managed to do something in early December, but it can be challenging. I love the idea of moving it to a time that is more relaxed for people. 7/29/2016 07:25:12 am
What a lovely tradition! We're lucky to have most of our family within two hours travel of us, so we're able to get together fairly easily. That's a great idea! Our family had a 3-day family reunion last weekend at a campsite. We missed the main day because we went to a funeral, but we heard it was over 100 degrees at the campsite with swarms of wasps and bees. I'm a city girl, so I don't camp anyway. We got there at 6am on the last day while everyone was packing up to go. My son wanted to go home within a half hour because the bees were chasing him. We have over 100 family members, so we can't do a reunion at a house. But Thanksgiving and Christmas in July sounds like fun! I hope you had a great time! 7/31/2016 09:49:13 am
Wonderful idea and theme for family reunions. Dates don't matter, getting together is what's important! Comments are closed.
