A is for Adventure: #AtoZChallenge

Welcome to my inspiration-themed A to Z challenge.

A is for Adventure. An adventure doesn't have to be expensive or complicated. It can be simply changing your routine, or as Julia Cameron says in The Artist's Way, "filling the well." Here are some sample mini-adventures:

Sit someplace busy and watch people. Pick a person in the area and think about how you would describe them as a character. We often get caught up in height, hair color, and eye color, but what makes the person you are observing unlike anyone else?

One of my favorite adventures was revisiting Hoboken, the city where my next story is set. I went to the places my main character goes and tried to see them through her eyes. (I created a Pinterest board of the photos.) If you can't visit your setting, try a virtual adventure through Pinterest, Google Earth, and online image searches.

I love your adventure idea- using an adventure to learn more about the locations your will write about and taking a virtual adventure. My A to Z Blog is an adventure for me this month! I don't know if anyone at all will read it, but just writing it will be an adventure.

My son and I always go on some adventure or the other while walking to school. His favorite adventures usually involve aliens using some man-hole or power box as the entrance to an underground lair where they spy on us for and try to learn all our secrets.

Sabrina, your adventures with your son are adorable! When my kids were little we used to walk to a bush that attracted butterflies. It was a short distance but was always an adventure to get there and see them fluttering around.
