Teen Tuesday: Skipping Stones Contest

Teen Tuesday is back! If you've been reading my blog during April, you'll know I focused on productivity, especially as it relates to creative people. I'm returning to my regular schedule, featuring blog posts for teen writers on Tuesdays and posts for writers/readers of all ages on Fridays. I may try to throw some productivity tips and quotes in as well. (Scroll down for today's quote.)

Writing Contest

"The Youth Honor Awards recognize creative and artistic works by young people that promote multicultural, international and nature awareness."

What: Essays, interviews, poems, short stories, photos, paintings, etc.
Who: Ages 7 to 17
When: By June 25th

"Winners will receive an Honor Award Certificate, a subscription to Skipping Stones magazine and five nature and/or multicultural books."

Lanie, is he a teen writer? I list resources, conferences, contests etc each Tuesday.

I'm sorry if i'm being ignorate but i am new to this site and i'm a little confused on what we are supposed to write about and how we are supposed to submit it? I also apologize if my spelling is a bit off i am on an iPad and it's harder to type on this.

Hi Shaeleigh! Sorry for the confusion. You don't write or submit anything on my site directly--I just try to provide useful information about writing opportunities and contests for teens. If you go to the Skipping Stones site at
http://www.skippingstones.org/youthhonor-02.htm
you will find complete instructions. Here are part of the guidelines about what to write:
"Original writing (essays, interviews, poems, plays, short stories, etc.) and art (photos, paintings, cartoons, etc.) from youth, ages 7 to 17, should be typed or neatly handwritten. The entries should be appropriate for ages 7 to 17. Prose under 1,000 words; poems under 30 lines. Non-English and bilingual writings, photo essays and art pieces (up to 8) are equally welcome.
You may also choose to highlight the work of a youth organization or group project. Using the same guidelines as above, tell us how the group works to preserve nature or enrich the community, its members and the lives of others."
The deadline is June 25th and the Skipping Stones website has complete information about how to submit your writing to them.
