My blog focuses on some of the things I love–books, writing, and productivity. (I research productivity as a means of procrastinating. 😊) If you enjoy those things, too, you’re in the right place.
I’ve had two young adult novels published by Sky Pony Press: Pandemic (which I wrote only imagining what a real pandemic would be like) and Black Flowers, White Lies. These days, in-person author events have been replaced with virtual ones, and I often speak to classes about the difference between researching/writing about a fictional pandemic and living through a real one. (Read more about my school visits here.) I’ve also like writing short stories–there’s something satisfying about completing less intense projects.
Most recently, I’ve become a student again, at Vermont College of Fine Arts’s MFA program, Writing for Children & Young Adults. (It’s an amazing low-residency program, and I’m in the midst of the third of four semesters.) That means lots of reading and writing and thinking about craft, some of which I hope to share in future posts. In the meantime, I’ve recently updated my Resources for Teen Writers (which includes plenty of information for adult writers, too).
