Today's interview is with Nkemdili Megwalu, the founder of the budding initiative, VeryLoudYouth.org. They are officially incorporated in the US and have regional offices in Anambra, Nigeria. Their goal, says Megwalu, "is to connect youth from varying and diverse backgrounds and facilitate learning and discussion among them." This is not a typical literary magazine. Megwalu's vision is "to unite a diverse group of like-minded people through our online platform."
What inspired you to create VeryLoudYouth?
I created VeryLoudYouth while working to prevent disadvantaged students from dropping out of school. During my role as counselor, I found that youth motivate positive change in each other more effectively than adults can. I started an in-school magazine where students could publish their poetry and views, gradually developed the blog, and now we have started pilot skill development programs in rural areas of West Africa where quality education is an exception.

What advice do you have for teens who want to contribute?
