How do major life events affect your writing? Has writing ever helped you through something?
Writing is a way to process all kinds of life events -- trauma, love, death, change. It all goes into the creative process, consciously or not. But that doesn't mean writers need to purposefully tackle life-changing events as they happen. Taking time off and self-care can be important, too.

What's your favorite scary book? The NY Times did a round-up of 13 author favorites: The Book That Terrified Neil Gaiman. And Carmen Maria Machado. And Dan Simmons. This may be behind a pay wall, but Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House was mentioned twice. I just borrowed it from the library. Have you read it?
