For how long do you shelve your first draft,
before reading it and re-drafting?
To paraphrase Neil Gaiman (you can read the quote with a cute cat pic here), I put a draft aside until I can look at it with a fresh perspective. If I can read it without remembering exactly what I’ve written, that definitely helps. I can more objectively judge what needs to be fixed that way.
